I've been dealing with alot of eyestrain lately. What chart colors do you find are easiest on the eyes?

Black and white. If it's too bright, just turn down your monitor.

  3. Try a light/pale green background with dark blue bars, and set all colors including gridelines and scale to same dark blue. Green is the most relaxing color on the eyes. I had same problem with high contrast setups, typically white or black backgrounds.

    Hope that helps

Here's two of my favorites. The sunset is great when screening stocks for the hot list. The night version is my chart of choice when I have a live trade.

PLUG shown, and it might be time get ready to buy the dip for a quick pop.

  5. As an ex-Marine sniper I use a black background with green bars. Before taking the shot we were trained to focus on something green to rest the eyes. And many years of screen time has proven that to be a good combination.

Interesting you should say that. I wasn't being flippant when I suggested black and white. I can see at a glance at a B&W chart what price is doing, whereas I have to study a chart that is colored. This extra time, which can be considerable, provides far more strain.

    Different strokes.

An optometrist I know suggests to exercise the eyes to help prevent eye strain.
every 20 mins or so refocus on different distances - even if done quickly, its a good habit, and keeps them healthy.

  8. Can't really say that I've ever experienced that. I'll give your B&W a try tomorrow and see.

I think the color and shade of the gridlines is also important. On a black background with green bars I use dark blue gridlines. It sort of gives the bars a 3D look. As least it does for my old eyes.

  9. That's good advice. When you guys get older you'll find that it takes longer for your eyes to refocus.
