Bellsouth DSL

  1. I just ordered bellsouth dsl because the offer they gave me was really good.

I would like to know from the people who have used it or have it ....... how would you rate it on a scale from 1 to 10 ? and why ?

    thanks in advance !

  2. you are away from your local switching office, DSL can be pretty slow . . . I used SBC DSL once here out on the West Coast and was 14,000 feet from the switching office, and as a result only received download speeds of 650k.

Cable is the best way to go, with speeds that are often 2.5 to 3 times that of DSL.

I have Bellsouth. I don't know how far I am from the switching station but have experienced very few difficulties over the past year and a half. I have run bandwidth speed programs; they consistently measure greater than 1 meg.

  4. thanks fellas

cable is definately the way to go, i've tried dsl & currently use cable and cable is a lot better. dsl is still pretty quick, but not as quick as cable, you can go to bandwidthplace.com and check you speeds, i usually have speeds between 4.5-5 megs w/cable

  7. anyone see any benefit to getting one's own modem versus the one BS issues????

  8. just a follow up here: ..................

at first i was having some disconnect issues, but of course i am a retard and had one of the filters hooked up wrong. i got confused because of my surge protector.

other than my own screw-up, the bellsouth dsl has been GREAT.
very satisfied with it and would recommend it. (i am in new orleans)

    good luck
