THIS is why I never short a stock. A long long time ago I was caught in a situation like this while holding a short position and I've never done it again. If I want to short anything I'll use puts...
there are many trader making their money almost soley based on shorting small caps on pops. It's all about risk managment and positive EV. You have to know what you short and what the risks associated with it are. Most of those traders don't hold bigger positions overnight. BBBY is a meme stock, so no surprise such a move can happen.
Not cool that one can go buy millions of shares of a stock and then days or weeks later announce it to the public and make free millions and millions. Why this is allowed baffles me. Buy millions of shares weeks ago, hold them tell public you own them. Stock pops 70% and you make free money in the tens and tens and tens of millions. Zero risk.
I just did 2 trades end of day winning bounce. To my disappointment I didn't trade my morning short call. Boo
All those small cap oil names that were popping today I think dazed and confused me to the point I couldn't focus on BBBY. I was like a deer in the headlights. I never would have dreamed that sector(oil/energy) would go nuts like it did today. It's usually a pretty boring sector.
