I have a Dell Dimension 2300 running Windows XP and a 17"CRT, and would like to add another 15" or 17" LCD display. Would appreciate an answer from the experts on: 1. What kind of video card do I need, and will it replace or supplement the one that currently drives the CRT? Any brand name recommendations? Will I need to uninstall some drivers? 2. At some point I may replace the CRT with a LCD, does that change the type of video card that I need? 3. I have 256 mb ram, will I need more? I realize these are all basic questions, but being a Mac user I am paranoid of screwing up with Windows
I will sell you a matrox g550 for $75.00 part# g55+mdha32dr(sealed and unopened). It will support your crt plus your dvi purchase. I will UPS it to you.....You can pay after your happy. Michael B.
Although I am not 100% certain about this, I would think that your Dell 2300 has an INTEGRATED GRAPHICS capability, which means that you do not have an AGP slot on your motherboard for your video card that will allow you to upgrade your video card to one that would support 2 monitors. Even if you were to add a video card to one of your PCI slots you would have to "disable" the onboard (integrated graphics ) video from the motherboard, thus putting you back to square one and only able to support ONE MONITOR. The only thing that I could think of would be to see if you can find a PCI video card that has "dual-outputs" that would allow you to support 2 monitors. These might be very difficult to find, since most PCI slot video cards ( that support only one monitor ) are pretty rare in themselves these days.
Why are you guys trying to sell this person an AGP type card when his computer has integrated graphics and is unable to use any kind of an AGP graphics card?
ok .....its not for sale......you cant have it.....remember I offered it free and trust for the money later.....what did anyone have to lose....? Michael B.
dual dvi is key......I got this card that only supports 1 dvi and 1 analog crt......i thought this would be ideal for this guy...was not aware he had integrated.....I do not know my Dells.... Michael B.
