  1. Good morning fellow options traders. A beautiful day here on Florida's Gulf Coast. A high of 74 predicted for today, warm enough for a gin and tonic at the beach this afternoon. And so it will be.

Today's Barron's magazine features its 22nd annual rankings of what it has determined to be the "Best Online Brokers."

The link to the article is:

Note: To get past Barron's paywall cut and paste the link into Google (or IE/Edge) and go from there. if you have a bunch of Barron'r cookies then delete them and try again.

For options traders Barron's ranked Interactive Brokers, ThinkorSwim and OptionHouse each with 4 1/2 stars. TradeStation and eOption ranked 4th and 5th with 4 stars.

  2. I wouldn't trust these rankings as brokers who paid for more advertising dollars to Barron's will get higher ratings.

  4. I've followed Theresa Carey's column for a long time and have always respected her column and found it to be, in general, unbiased and very useful.

Do you have any empirical evidence to support your claim that the 16 brokers listed in the article paid the Dow Jones & Company some undisclosed sum of money to get "higher ratings" in Barron's annual review?

For example did Fidelity pay DJ&C more to get a first place ranking than Lightspeed which was ranked 10th. Interactive Brokers (2nd) vice Planner Securities (16th.)

Just curious how you got to your conclusion.

  5. Bob,

Ditto. Also have missed the top 10 2016 wines, vacation spots, restaurants, cigars, pistols, shotguns, tax preparation software, books, movies, billboard singles, archaeological sites and so on.

    Thanks for that Steven.
