I’m currently trying to decide where to invest my money long-term, as I’ve recently pulled out of my bank’s recommended mutual funds as they haven’t been outperforming the market in the last 3 years. I was thinking about investing a small portion (maybe 10% of my cash) into Deutsche X-trackers Harvest CSI 300 China A-Shares ETF (symbol: ASHR) which tracks an index of the largest and most liquid Chinese shares traded on the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges. I would love to hear anyone’s opinion on this play. Good or bad idea? Thanks
FXI is the most liquid at half the management fee. However, I think active management can add value for that category. See: http://etfdb.com/etfdb-category/china-equities/ Reconsider what this money is about and decide for yourself if it is a proper allocation. As a trader, no. There are more interesting developments with liquid products which isn't correlated to US equities.
Thanks xandman. I know this is not related to this thread, but which alternative interesting developments do you have in mind?
Follow my threads. Everything is correlated to a certain degree. Grains have the loosest correlation of all. But, I am not exactly a farmer. So, we allocate in moderation. You mentioned earlier that this was "mutual fund money". Surely, this held a purpose in your personal financial plan. You don't want to start speculating at the drop of a hat.
