ARM users please post experiences here. Much research has let me to this combination in hopes of running some experimental automated systems at low cost and competitive speeds. Also will post the same thread title in the MultiCharts forum.

First observation is just like others have said Rithmic is not a main stream data feed, unless you run Meta Trader. Not to say it's not a fast feed or anything against it other than it has no history, except for MetaTrader. But then again TT is very costly and it also has no history and Rithmic seems as fast as TT from an order entry standpoint.

Looks like Rithmic was made specifically for MetaTrader as there are symbols for historical contracts that are not available to MultiChart users. Despite AMP support suggesting I download MetaTrader, the historical data didn't magically jump over to my MultiChart charts.

  5. Here's a good one Mark.....you probably ran into it already:
We moved from IQFeed to Rithmic data feed.
When changing the datasource symbol in a chart, all of the existing indicators were active, but showing no values.
Attempting to "recalc all indicators" did nothing. Toggling the indicators off and on...did nothing.
Only by removing all indicators, and re-inserting them one-by-one, did they show-up again.
Huge hassle: each workspace has to be rebuilt from scratch.
This has got to be a bug in MC14.

  6. Well Mark, it just gets worse. I was told Rithmic had several years of tick data for the E-Minis. In fact, they only have 2 MONTHS. Contrast this with IQFeed that had approx. 1 YEAR of tick data history.
I also discovered that even if you change the from-to dates for the symbol, once again, all indicators are "lost" and you have to remove them and add them again.
Finally, when you go to refresh or change the parameters of a study, there is no message displayed. With IQFeed as the data source, MC would display "...recalculating". Not with Rithmic....you just get no message at all...akin to a blank screen.
My only hope is that Rithmic will live up to expectations with their execution/clearing platform.
Also, as I continue to submit all of these problems to MC tech support on a daily basis, I just don't think we'll see anything stable until Feb 2021 or so.

  7. Rithmic Data ... It gets even worse :
    1) No statistical symbols like TRIN, TICK, etc. are available
    2) They throttle access to their historical data:

in my efforts to be free of tradestation "addictive historical data" i am moving to dtn iqfeed because it and rithmic seem to be very stable with multicharts. i really like multicharts so any bitching about them is just to make it a better platform.

i personally know the owner going back decades and their team is very capable of delivering, however their interface with tradestation is not dependable and can not be trusted to trade with at all.

rithmic data in spite of my hopes falls flat on its face as a charting data provider. they have no history other than basically today but they do today very well. just don't think you can use them for anything other than a broker order entry data provider. the data is fast but it should be cause they have no overhead from supplying history.

brings me to wonder why doesn't iqfeed also provide broker interface like tt, cqg, rithmic, and some others? maybe i should spearhead the push for them to do that because i think it would be killer. i love all the raw indices you can get with iqfeed, i use many alternate views of the markets and obscure indices are my thing.

amp i am going to try today to figure out how to view your account balance so far i am dumbfounded.

so now its a iqfeed / rithmic / multichart / amp experiment. will see how it al goes, markets kinda dead thru the end of the year.

  10. Hey Mark, I concur with everything you've said.
Here is my take on Rithmic realtime data:
    1) servers are slower than IQFeed. Totally obvious.
    2) historic data is limited...you get a nasty email if you get near the weekly access limitation.
    3) no continuous back-adjusted futures symbols
    4) lack of statistical symbols like $TICK, $TRIN, etc. IMHO....that is really bad.
    5) IMHO: IQFeed is about 3 times as valuable as Rithmic data. So looking at the monthly cost, that would put Rithmic at $43 per month when in fact I am paying $100 for their data feed. So effectively, they are way overpriced to the retail market. (Why do retail traders get hosed so much in this business...LOL ?)
Bottomline: IQFeed is a RELATIVE bargain.
