JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Three people have been sentenced to federal prison following a hate crimes investigation stemming from the death of a black man who was beaten and run over by a truck.

U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves on Tuesday sentenced Deryl Paul Dedmon to 50 years; John Aaron Rice to 18 ½ years; and Dylan Wade Butler to seven years. They were charged in the June 2011 death of James Craig Anderson.

The inquiry that followed Anderson's death revealed a group of young white people had been coming to Jackson to harass and assault African-Americans.

Nearly 4,000 African Americans were victims of “racial terror lynchings” in the South between 1877 and 1950, according to a new report by the Equal Justice Initiative.

The report, released today, is the result of some five years of research by the organization. It has found that racial terror lynching was much more prevalent than previously reported.

You forgot to mention most of this was by the hands of devout democrats.

I wonder how many Africans had killed other Africans in Africa during that time.

  5. I wonder how many whites were killed or terrorized by blacks?

When will the "Equal Justice Initiative" be issuing a report on that?

Most children dread a visit to dentist, but for Journee Woodard, a routine visit for her pearly whites actually saved her life.

Last week, the 11-year-old from Edmond, Oklahoma, was getting a cleaning from dental hygienist Rachel Stroble. Everything was going just fine until Stroble noticed something alarming that had nothing to do with the girl's teeth. Stroble was looking into Journee's eyes.

Stroble told the dentist, Dr. Michael Chandler, that Journee's eyes looked yellow. The dentist took a look and agreed that something wasn't right.

Chandler urged Journee's mother to take her to the doctor right away, and the yellowing of her eyes turned out to be a sign of something serious. After blood tests, an ultrasound, CT scan and MRI, the family learned their daughter had a large mass on her pancreas, and she would need extensive surgery to remove it.

Her parents began documenting their daughter's surgery and recovery online:

"Friday she underwent a 9 hour surgery to remove a grapefruit-size tumor. Surgeons performed 'Whipple Procedure,' a major operation that removed part of her pancreas, stomach, gall bladder and part of the intestine."

The family reports that Journee will be in the ICU for the next 7 to 10 days. Because neither parents have paid time off at work, they are asking for donations on YouSharing.com, a crowd-sourced fundraising website. They will need money to cover her medical care and also help out with expenses for their other children, who thankfully are healthy.

"Thank you so much again for everyone's continued love, prayers, support and amazing generosity," Journee's mother Anna Woodard wrote on the website.

So what's the problem? Most of the jobs in America, including the highly paid tech sector contracting jobs, don't come with paid time off. If you need the time then take unpaid.

Thanks to Obamacare if one of family members got sick I would be paying a huge amount of money of pocket. Obamacare forced employers to get rid of 100% "Cadillac" coverage plans and replace them with inferior 80% plans. Should I go out on a crowd-funding site and beg for money to pay for expenses for my healthy children as well as medical expense money?
