Think of how many thousands of companies in this same situation. Earnings across every sector will have to be adjusted way down.

“The reality is it would take 3 years and $30 billion dollars in our estimation to move even 10% of its supply chain from Asia to the US with major disruption in the process,” Wedbush analyst Dan Ives wrote in a Thursday note.

Apple investors will want to know how much Trump’s tariffs will hurt the company’s earnings.

The next US President might reverse whatever President Trump has done on the tariff.

The American CEOs used to have long term plan of say 10 years.
Now they are going to eliminate that, and just have
medium term plan of 4 years only.

That's exactly what I was thinking as well.. every bit of these tarriffs would be completely reversed under a new administration ...meaning if these companies can hold out on making an significant changes that it actually might be more beneficial for them to stay put and accept the tarriffs than completely move an entire factory to the US. Imagine what kind of plan you need to build a facility from the ground up, the amount of time energy and money. Even if apple broke ground today, it would take at least a few years to have it up and running. And apple has the resources and money to do it...what about the other tens of thousands of companies outside the US that would have to plan to build factories here in order to avoid tarriffs.... It's not going to happen ...a select few will come back but I can guarantee that in the next 5 years you will not see Made in America on all and every item like this administration is begging for..

You have assumed that tariffs will fail the American economy. Now if the American economy fails badly in this experiment, Republican party may get wiped out for a few elections. Staring at that scenario, Republicans would support Trump in not stepping down or in not conducting an election. They would find strange reasons to call for emergency measures. OTOH, if this experiment turns out to be good for the USA, there could be a pro-Republican wave and they might try to amend the constitution so that Trump runs again.

For now all the impacted companies will take losses for the next 3.5 years, until the next administration reverses the tariffs and spurs an economic boom.

So basically you're saying that no matter what, Republicans will circumvent the constitution to let Trump continue his rule ... Ain't gonna happen.

What I discussed was just possibilities under the two scenarios. If that works out or fails is a different matter.
