Anyone seen a study on post vaccinated covid exposure effects?

I'm talking specifically about what happens to immunity when a vaccinated person has a noticeable breakthrough Covid infection, or a sub-clinical one?

Just for a kids project, anyone seen this angle discussed?

Here is what to look out for if you’ve had both jabs.

According to the Covid Symptom Study, the five most common symptoms of a breakthrough infection are a headache, a runny nose, sneezing, a sore throat, and loss of smell. Some of these are the same symptoms that people who haven’t had a vaccine experience. If you haven’t been vaccinated, three of the most common symptoms are headaches, sore throat, and runny nose.

However, the two other most common symptoms in the unvaccinated are fever and a persistent cough. These two “classic” Covid-19 symptoms become much less common once you’ve had your jabs. One study found that people with breakthrough infections are 58 percent less likely to have a fever than unvaccinated people. Rather, Covid-19 after vaccination has been described as feeling like a head cold for many.

Vaccinated people are also less likely than unvaccinated people to be hospitalized if they develop Covid-19. They’re also likely to have fewer symptoms during the initial stages of the illness and are less likely to develop long Covid.

What Raises the Risk of Breakthrough Infection ?

    Vaccine Type
    Time Since the Vaccination
    Covid-19 Variant Type
Your Immune System (your medical condition) at time of Breakthrough Infection
    ----------

There are many countries using different types of vaccines with different time intervals between the 1st Dose to 2nd Dose. In fact, some countries will not recognize someone is fully vaccinated for travel purposes / immigration purposes if that person was vaccinated in another country via a particular type of vaccine.

Here in North America, a vaccinated person with a breakthrough infections is many times less likely to occur in comparison to a not vaccinated person having a Covid infection.

Just as importantly, a vaccinate person that has a breakthrough infection is less likely to require hospitalization, ICU admission or Death in comparison to a person that's Not Vaccinated.

I've posted +20 data graphs of the above here at ET to show that those Not Vaccinated are in fact at higher risk of a severe Covid illness than those that are Vaccinated.

Indeed, I'm more looking for studies highlighting how lasting/improved is immunity post breakthrough vs similarly immunised but no breakthrough/covid contact (clinical or sub clinical).

One would expect this to be detectible by a jump in immune factors?

If that makes sense :) I'm a little fuzzy today as I was fixing a broken O2 concentrator at 2am for a friend.

There are studies right now studying that.

In immunology...in theory...a person that has recovered from a prior Covid infection and then gets vaccinated should have equal immunity as a person that gets vaccinated first and then recovers from a breakthrough infection...
    • They are the two groups of people that will have the highest immunity to Covid. There are currently studies researching this.
Yet, as stated in my prior reply, there are other variables (e.g. type of vaccine, the time between dosage, immune system / underlying medical condition, Covid variant involved) that will determine the type of symptoms and severity of a breakthrough Covid illness.
    • Regardless, your immune system performs better if you have a breakthrough Covid infection after vaccination in comparison to those Not Vaccinated that then become Covid infected here in North America.
There are a small number of people intentionally getting a Covid infection under the care of a doctor or nurse and then after they recover...they then get fully vaccinated to have the maximum protection against Covid.

Indeed but the opposite order? A vaccinated person gets a dose of covid. What happens?

I'm presuming there should be an enhancement as the vaccine trained immunity reacts quickly however the immune system will (I am assuming) create new antibodies etc. keyed off the actual live virus structure in parallel.

These 'natural' for want of a better word (it's all natural) antibodies, keyed off the variant are now added to the defence.

    Sorry very muddled :)

    As stated...

In immunology...in theory...a person that has recovered from a prior Covid infection (this person now has Natural Immunity) and then gets vaccinated should have equal immunity as a person that gets vaccinated first and then recovers from a breakthrough Covid infection...

The symptoms should be similar for both groups of people.
    • Regardless, both of the above groups of people will have the best immunity against Covid.
Another way to look at this, these are the people that do not need a booster shot until Covid gets designated as a seasonal infection with the exception of those that are immunocompromise.

Sorry! Yes, missed that. Indeed, this is what I'm assuming, just I need to back the statement with research evidence. I expect the order does differ (vaccine baseline to wild created) within a time frame but less over time.

There should be a wealth of research from other viruses of course.

I think the biggest deciding variable about the symptoms is the type of Variant although one may argue that the type of vaccine and any type of existing underlying medical condition are equally important variables that will determine the severity of the Covid illness.
