I'm looking for a trading position with a firm and I was wondering if any of them are hiring right now? I'm applying all over the US, but most of the positions I have found so far are for programmers.
Here's a list: http://www.tradersnarrative.com/list-of-proprietary-trading-firms-735.html Most of the legit firms are in Chicago, which mostly trade futures. New York is more equities. Contact them individually and see if they are hiring.
Thanks a lot. This is a good idea, I've just been looking for openings online so far but this would be more effective
Pardon me for my ignorance, but why do people usually join prop firms? Do they offer training or something else to people who join? I'm thinking that you could trade in your own home if the only thing they offered was an office.
I think many people misunderstand what is a prop firm. They dont hire, you just get in. People saying that are looking at a salaried position I think.
Right, I was under the impression that you put up capital (say $5000) and they would contribute $95,000 to give you 20:1 leverage. Since futures have leverage inherently built in, why would anyone work at a prop firm and pay fees and other costs in the first place?
some prop firms work together on ideas etc but it seems several prop firms are nothing more then a trade arcade. you deposit money and trade your own ideas etc I can only think of prop firms with large investment banks that may pay a salary .
