Any indicator such as this ?

  1. Hi guys,

    Is there any indicator that shows the number of green (up) candlesticks and number of brown (down) candlesticks for any given range ? Also need a ratio of total up : down movement.

    Looking in specific for IB TWS but also in general.

    Thank you

    With similar type indicators, one can come up with numerous concoctions, some will contradict, others align.
    You could roll these two into one.
    Upbars vs downbars from previous day's close.
    Upbar=Price > Previous close. Downbar=Price < Previous bar.
    For the range required, just sum upbars divided by sum of downbars.
    Perhaps consider such as this...

    "number of candlesticks"? No, none -- because the response would be dependent on the chosen time window.

    "ratio of total up|down movement" There are a couple. My favorite unbounded measure is the ADX/DMI+/DMI-; favorite bounded is Lane's Stochastic. Look around as to how T/As are grouped, and you might find something that appeals more to you.

    Brown lol colour blind generally red, I set mine to Blue.

    Could code in MT4 if you trade with that.
