Any future plans to upgrade TWS Charting?

  1. Like the title says... Been trying to use TWS for charting to see what it is like, and I just can't see the market the same vs. a 3rd party charting platform (TC2000, Esignal). As robust as TWS is, the charting is well behind others. I get it's a wish list item, but has anyone heard of any an news of improvements?

The charting is an open source project.

  4. Yeah, even the lousy Metatrader has better charting... I wonder how many clients have preferred TD Ameritrade over IB and others just because of better charting. I mean it is ridiculous, how long IB has survived with it. They have reworked EVERYTHING, from the companys appearance to the feature list of TWS, but they did never touch charting in almost a decade..

IB have a snapshot datafeed that works on the open and when it is busy when TOS is locking up as they cannot handle the avalanche of data.

I don't find the charting too bad, manageable, but the lack of programming, custom indicator/alerts, no useful API documentation etc. is kind of lame in this day and age

  7. The best way for IB to upgrade their charting would be to interface with TradingView. But they won't.

You always have an option of using third party software connecting to IB that has much better charting.
