i am 52. i feel great and i am in great shape. although due to genetics i need a statin. i do get some lower back pain and some shoulder pain in the morning. probably because i lifted heavy weights throughout my 20’s and 30’s. i still hit the weights and do cardio. one thing that sucks and caught me off guard is waking up once or even twice to urinate at night. that totally sucks!!!! i also dont piss like a race horse any more. i guess its BPH. other than that, im good.

They say after 50 you can't trust a fart. Couple of years shy, can't wait. I'm a couple of years under but on statins due to stents put in recently as in my 20s I was caught in a couple of explosions, one or both of which had enough force cause arteriosclerosis and problems 20 years later. I found I was having to get up to piss but when I switched to a no sugar, low carb anti-inflammatory diet this disappeared fast. I can now drink nearly as much water as I want and normal big pee in the morning.
Low to no extra sugar in diet and avoiding wheat bread plus a lot of salads. I have quit all sodas but I have one brown sugar in my morning coffee. Seems to have improved my prostate for the better also. Mind is clearer too.
Extra lead and impurities I live in Colombia mostly so the normal sugar here is called panela, it happens to be brown.
1. Instead of statins (or with it) you could take a D3/K2 combo that actually clears your blood vessels of calcium plaques. Read up on it. 2. Saw Palmetto for night urination. Also some natural sleeping supplement if you have trouble falling back to sleep. L-Tryptophan is an amino acid and helps with sleep problems but there are many others.
I dont get any side effects from the statin and it works well. My problem isnt so much my level, its only 203. Its my particle size and number. Thats much more telling than even LDL. Sometimes you need a drug. As far as night time urination, doctor gave me flomax.. it helps. Saw palmetto didnt really work. Its supposed to inhibit the conversion of testosterone to DHT and shrink the prostate. Finasteride does that very well. I know guys who have been using finasteride for years for hair loss with NO side effcts despite what lawyers post all over the internet.
If you are happy, I am happy. We are one big happy family. But just so you know, statins only lower the numbers but don't remove plaques, the cause of heart attacks. If your number is 203 without statin I wouldn't worry about it, but as you said correctly, the ratio and particle size and Trygs are more important. If you are still getting up twice, Flomax doesn't seem to be working. Unless you would get up 5 times without Flomax. What I don't get is, if you are happy with your state of health and drugs, why did you start the thread???
