Just wondering if anyone has a favorie analyst. I understand that analysts always have their own agenda but their "analysts" will often move a stock in one direction or another. Personally, I don't have a favorite but I usually discount anything Motley has to say. I've seen them on occassion take an opposite stand on something they posted just a day earlier. Their opinions on SNDL is a good example.
I don't believe in analysts. What they tell you and make public is so late news. That is designed to suck in retail traders while, the big boys (brokers, banks, hedge funds, mutual funds) have long taken positions. Stockcharts tell you what you need to know. I get into positions based on what I see on StockCharts. Most times, I am able to get into trades and position myself before, that stock runs up pretty good. It requires some work because you need to look at a huge number of StockCharts. One way to lessen the workload is have a watchlist of stocks, say 10-15 stocks you watch to enter trades on.
I agree with smallfil, I have seen way too many times, a situation where an analyst has a $200 price target on a stock, the stock is trading at $160, they announce earnings, or news, and the stock plummets to $120. THEN the analyst lowers his price target to $130. Where’s the value in that? im sure there are some good ones, but they are few and far between and I haven’t found one yet.
