I Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but how bout giving users the ability to simply ignore a thread? I read most of the different sections of ET but only post in a few, but i have noticed certain posters like posting about the same topics over and over again. I don't ever put anyone on my ignore list because i have found that i end up in a conversation and i don't understand who is talking or what is going on because i am missing posts from a few users on the thread. So how bout giving us the ability to simply click on something and ignore an entire thread, as opposed to ignoring a user altogether. This would give a person who likes reading the economics section the ability to ignore any threads started about the economy of Uganda, or anything like that, or a person who enjoys reading the trading section the ability to ignore the "market top/market bottom" threads, and it would make browsing the site much easier. Plus if a thread turns into a pissing contest between a few individuals and you have already read the substance of the thread, you can just put it on the ignore list, and not be bothered by it anymore. This would also prove to be very useful to new traders in the journals section if they have no interest in a persons particular style of trading, they can just put the thread on ignore, and pay attention to the journals that interest them. Up to you guys, no complaints from me, i just thought of the idea a couple days ago when i realized certain posters are still worth reading, even though they tend to start 1 thread after another on the same topic which i have no interest.
That's a simple function just about any other message board software has, but since et is stuck in the past, no such luck.
It already exists. It is your right hand (assuming you are right handed) on the mouse, the ability to make a choice and NOT clicking on the thread. You are welcome....
