June 10, 2021, 4:16 PM CDT By Dartunorro Clark America’s reputation on the global stage appears to have significantly rebounded since former President Donald Trump left office and President Joe Biden became the commander in chief, according to a Pew Research Center survey released Thursday. As Biden is in Europe attempting to repair relations with America's allies, the poll found that several countries in the region like the current president more than the former. A median of 75 percent of respondents in 12 countries expressed confidence in Biden, compared with 17 percent for Trump last year, according to the survey. In the United Kingdom, for example, 64 percent of those surveyed said they view the U.S. favorably, up from just 41 percent under Trump. Similar favorability improvements of 25 percentage points or more were found in France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, the survey found. Of the 16,254 people in 16 countries surveyed in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region between March and May, more than 60 percent in each country said they have confidence in Biden to "do the right thing in world affairs." Biden arrived Wednesday in Britain for a series of meetings with world leaders intent on stressing the message of his first foreign trip as president: "The United States is back." "Our alliances weren't built by coercion or maintained by threats. They're grounded in democratic ideals, a shared vision of the future, where every voice matters," Biden said after landing in the U.K. Majorities in each country surveyed gave Biden positive marks. Overall, a median of 74 percent has confidence in Biden to "do the right thing in world affairs," according to Pew. Pew conducted the survey in 12 to 16 countries depending on the questions. They include: Australia, Belgium, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and Taiwan.
Some Americans on here seemed oblivious to just how bad Trump really was and how lowly he was regarded in other countries ( like Canada ). They just saw it as political posturing as they continued with the ridiculous "left vs right" obsession in the US. In fact, the opinions of outsiders like me are not political. I have no allegiance to either US party. I genuinely saw Trump as an incompetent clown with numerous really bad character flaws suggesting he's an extreme sociopath. Shortly before Trump lost the election, the allegiance of a big chunk of Americans to this clown led to Canadians confidence in the US overall to all time lows since such things have been tracked.
Like we give a shit what some winter wasteland thinks of us. You're lucky we haven't invaded you, stole all your beer and hockey teams, and F***** all your women. Canada is our Bitch!! Now, tell me which Canuck mining stocks to buy...NOW! j/k 9er
Those countries hated us because they stopped getting free money for nothing under Trump Of course they like Sleepy Joe, they're robbing us blind
Canada get's no free money from the US. Even the trade deal is basically balanced. We "hate you" when you become an overly aggressive, negative force on the planet.
Yeah, maybe these freeloading countries can pay for their own shit now. Wait, under Joe Biden's rule that won't happen. They can keep freeloading as usual.
But in a pattern that has been repeated every year since, Congress - where foreign aid has bipartisan support - rejected the cuts and kept spending roughly where it has been for years, at $52.5bn in 2020. That's despite attempts every year by the administration to reduce funding by between 20 and 30 per cent. So it is not true Trump cut foreign aid becauae Trump is NOT in charge of the wallet. Any example of where the people believe what they are fed ratehr than check out the facts. Congress passes the budget and a GOP Congress never cut foreign aid. My problem with guys who worship politicians is you just make up shit to support your false idol and claim it as fact. That is how people on social media defend their guy by simply saying shit they were lied to about.
