This has been happening for a long time. The freedoms are eroding little by little. Our society is becoming more and more controlled by the government. And very similar to the mini-governments you find inside large multinational corporations. These type of governments are very totalitarian. Top down government with people acting as automatons.
Saw the details on the Whitmer issue in Michigan. I think she fucked up in the extent of her order. For example she deems landscapers non essential and ordered them to shut down. In my state the landscapers still go around and cut the lawns even at my house. Groups of two guys with masks never come into interaction with anyone and provide good work for plenty of people especially this time of the year in the Spring. Many states are still letting landscapers work. She went to far on that one and not sure why she did not just follow the model of many other states. She also added that stupid restriction on travel between own houses. This is a good example of where a valid government authority over reaches way too far
The Michigan residents that want to reopen the economy are also anti-vaxxers. Darwin seen smiling smugly in the corner.
I think protests are valid given the following circumstances: 1. Infotainment media has been pushing "we're going to be inside forever" and "blood tests before you can return to work" for weeks now. Fear. 2. The very real possibility of the government using this to take away freedoms. Fear. 3. The need for people to return to work promptly. Fear. 4. The "Oh we'll get back to you on a new timeline next month". Fear. 5. The president fumbling at every possible turn. Fear. 6. Fauci promoting mass panic with everything he says. Fear. The only people not at least asking "why can't we allow businesses to open as long as they operate at reduced capacity and strictly enforce distancing rules and masks?" are the people gulping up the Cuomo/Deblasio/Fauci panic kool aid. I think once we have two weeks of successive decreases in cases we should begin allowing businesses to open up provide they operate safely. Unemployment continues to creep up. State coffers will likely run out soon and social security will go to zero. People are afraid. People know a vaccine is 12-18 months out. Combine this with millennials, who are considerably more politically vocal, we will likely see protests on both sides. Democrat controlled states will likely open later, and subsequently those populations will suffer considerably worse fates. Republican states will likely open sooner and we will see how well people manage. People will already emerge from this broken and terrified. The main 3 generations (Gen-X, Millennials, Gen-Z) will probably become anti-consumer in order to protect themselves from another disaster. Companies will be carefully chosen by workers based on their treatment of people during this crisis. We are in unprecedented times. For people who don't subscribe to the two party dogma this is exactly what should happen. Voting a certain way does not imply unquestioning authority of your leader (unless you sit on the fringes of the horseshoe - which you do).
