Amazon to replace Walgreens in Dow Industrial Average next week

Amazon will replace Walgreens Boots Alliance in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, according to a Tuesday announcement from S&P Dow Jones Indices, which manages the price-weighted measurement of 30 stocks. Amazon shares moved up 1% in extended trading, and Walgreens stock moved 3% lower.

The move will result in more exposure to the online retailer for investors who bet on the average, which is far smaller than the S&P 500 index. The change goes into effect prior to market open on Feb. 26........................

I heard that Uber might be coming to the index soon -- not sure when.

 

How to make the index goes up?

Simply remove those stocks that are on the downtrend (eg Walgreens) and
replace it with stocks that are on the uptrend (eg Amazon).

Is Uber on the uptrend?
Yes it is. So it might be added to the index.

 

Joined S&P already, doubtful it will also join Dow. DJ30 is still the Fuddy Duddy index.

Down a chunk yesterday. -2% again so far this morning. Earnings after the bell.

Till recently was roughly 1/3rd of the S&P gains this year.

Should have been Done about a decade ago!!

Amazon will not achieve the same growth the next 20 yrs as it did the last 20!!
