You most likely going to end up working on your own to become a chartist, this guy one of the best. http://thepatternsite.com/tradinghelp.html
I don't have anything negative to say about him, but I find him putting statistics to technical patterns just silly. Don't you?
You are correct as you don't know how he programmed the patterns. I have always found programming of charts to be most difficult compared to indicators or numbers, can always have some variances but again the reader has no way to fully understand by how much of the changes. But it does open up new thoughts for some who never thought of using indicators to be like a chart to form tri-angles or H&S.
I like Lance's teachings. Not familiar with Brooks. Before I buy anything, I need to understand how the trader handles day to day challenges, what kind of risks he/she is taking. Understanding the RISK being taken is to me the most important part of any strategy. I stay away from (or at least don't pay) people who say all the right things but don't show you how they practice it.
