    It is notoriously difficult to reduce the drug discovery process. I did research in synthetic organic chemistry when I was at Berkeley and it is very difficult to predict drug interactions & the inevitable side effects, metabolites, etc. The book The Billion Dollar Molecule covers it pretty well.

    I think if the drug discovery process was faster I think that drug prices would also be lower since the company could amortize the costs over a longer period of time.
