Afro Anerican AP is another “Special Needs Class”

We all know Governor Desantis shot down the race baiting useless idea of an Afro American AP class. Thank god !!!
To even call it an AP class is insulting to everyones intelligemce. This is basically a race hustling special needs class for those with a low IQ who can claim they taken an AP.
AP is physics, calculus and other challenging subjects. This is meant for those that dont have the intellect for a true AP class. This is similar to how certain people get into colleges with low SAT scores.

I strongly doubt you've taken any AP classes if you think that AP classes are only physics, calculus, and other (not named) subjects. Further, DeSantis banned AP African American classes as an AP topic...he did not ban regular African American classes that have been taught for several decades at the high school and college level.

In fact, college students can still take African American studies when they arrive at Florida college campuses (e.g. Univ. South Florida, Florida State Univ, and Florida A&M Univ).

For the record, in the history of AP classes, more than 1/2 of the below listed AP classes were initially not allowed when they were first submitted as AP classes. They were then reorganized and resubmitted...today they're an AP class (e.g. Studio Art, Human Geography).

There are 38 AP courses available to high school students. Subjects offered include:
    • Art History
    • Biology
    • Calculus AB & BC
    • Chemistry
    • Computer Science A
    • Economics
    • English
    • Environmental Science
    • European History
    • French
    • German Language
    • Government & Politics
    • Human Geography
    • International English Language (APIEL)
    • Latin
    • Music Theory
    • Physics
    • Psychology
    • Spanish
    • Statistics
    • Studio Art
    • US History
    • World History
Some states are a little different. For example, they may list additional German Languages as an AP class but in reality, you're learning German Language & Culture.

When I was in high school, there was an AP Chinese course to learn the language & culture...it is one of the easiest AP classes when I was in high school. Today, AP Chinese is still listed as one of the easiest AP classes (see graph below). In contrast, the hardest AP classes I took was Physics C and Chemistry for college credits. In fact, my AP Art History class was more difficult than my AP Chinese class & AP French class. :D

I took AP Chinese because the hottest girl in my school was Chinese and I was trying to impress her...she still didn't notice me.

I'm not sure what the big deal is in Florida considering you learn a little about slavery, KKK, lynching, and so on in AP U.S. History accordingly to a friend in Florida (Cuban) with a teenager taking an AP History class. Thus, there must have been something wrong with that AP African American Studies class that will most likely be reorganized and then re-submitted.

Last of all, some high schools do not offer AP classes or a particular specific AP class. You can still take AP classes online for those planning to attend a University that offers that class course in their freshman year curriculum. Yet, I'm not sure how the AP classes online are organized and which Universities accepts them.

No one wants race hustling and useless CRT subjects rammed down a childs throat; its cringy.

  5. AP classes are great for weighted GPAs haha... An A is a 5.0 plus the college credit. Son taking a bunch to load up.

But there is no need for an AA Studies AP Class... There are already AA studies classes in HS and college so what is the point of making it an AP when most AP classes are common subjects that lead to pre requisites in college where getting the credit helps.

Afro studies as an AP class is completely useless and does nothing to challenge a childs mind. Whats next, AP finger painting !

It's not more useless than a lot of the non-STEM courseworks, but devoting a lot of time to it tends to self-segregate blacks before entering the job market.

We don't know exactly what was in the AP African American class but I will assume it's different than the AP German class, AP Chinese class, AP Spanish class, or AP French class because AP African American would have been covering topics already being discussed in classes like AP U.S. History...topics I do know are covered in AP U.S. History.

Yet, other ethnic groups have their own AP identity class.

I would like to see an AP Indigenous class at least in North Dakota and South Dakota high school education systems. Oh wait, there are already honors indigenous classes and honors indigenous literature classes.

Yet, AP classes are good for those getting credit for classes they would have been required to take during their freshmen and sophomore years of college. I never viewed AP classes as a way to make your college application credentials look nicer to help gain entry into a University although some do.

Instead, I viewed AP classes as a big money saver. It's the primary reason I and my friends took AP classes along with allowing us to get into our college degree classes much sooner because we had already earned college credits for biology, chemistry, physics, and languages.

The name of the class is AP African American...not Afro Studies. In other words, stop being a dick head with your slang. Too often you behave (write) as an uneducated asshole that never finished high school and was raised by racist parents.

You're no different than the other ET dick heads here at the forum that refer to the China Coronavirus as Kung Fu Virus but then are in an uproar about growing assaults against Asians during this Pandemic...although different but the same stupidity.

I was debating this w/a few peeps in a chat. I can see it if it qualifies for the "humanities" credit from the core curriculum but imo, you'd have to offer "indian studies" and "women's studies" as well or else you're validating "CRT" fears and showing a preferential bias to one group. It was complete BS however that they did offer European History for AP credit though.
