Adrian Peterson - Child Abuse Indictment

  1. At first glance this seemed to be another case of overzealous law enforcement. Being of the baby boomer gen, I have plenty of memories of a well deserved swat from doing something wrong. But looking at the details of the indictment there is more there that, if true, points to something beyond a few whacks with a switch:

I assume the police have been working on this case for awhile and feel that AP needs to be punished. AP is certainly an extremely strong guy and may have trouble "toning it down," but are we becoming a nation of wusses who will be forbidden from disciplining a child? Sounds like the concern may be with some injuries that extended to bleeding cuts and genital marks. It certainly sounds like a heck of a "whoopin'."

  2. TMZ has pictures of the cuts and bruises on the kids legs and arms....and texts from AP to his baby momma-

"According to the police report, Peterson allegedly sent text messages to the child's mother saying he "felt bad" because he struck the kid in the testicles.

"Got him in the nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I'm all tearing that butt up when needed!" the text said.

Peterson allegedly sent a follow up text saying, "Never do I go overboard! But all my kids will know, hey daddy has he biggest heart but don't play no games when it comes to acting right."

According to the police report, the child told authorities he had also been hit by a belt and there were "a lot of belts in daddy's closet."

The child also said AP had put leaves in his mouth when he was being struck and that his pants were down.

Those pictures are not "disciplining" a child. That's fucking child abuse. I hope AP rots in prison and never steps foot on an NFL field again.

  3. Yeah after seeing those pics sure looks like abuse. Goes way beyond what is necessary...esp for a 4 yo. Apparently the kid didn't cry. That's probably what set off AP. Tough kid.

  4. Corporal punishment is only appropriate when used in a sane and rational manner. One, you don't ever use a "switch", belt, or any instrument that can inflict pain on a 4 year old. Two, you don't ever use a switch on open flesh. Personally I think we need to tread carefully when telling parents how they can discipline their own children, but this is a clear case of abuse.

One in three black males will go to prison sometime during their lifetime.

The NFL seems to be doing much better than that. I doubt one in three black NFL players will wind up in prison.

So why all the outcry about the NFL? It seems to be doing better than the population at large.

Either way, the pos needs to sit in jail! My Son's now close to HS graduation, a 4.0 student, extremely respectful calling adults Sir/Mam, and is happy. He's also one who got his "butt busted" (his words, lol), as a kid running off in a dept store, putting stuff in electrical outlet, pissing on a woman's leg (not kidding!) while we stood in line for a theme park ride, etc., Funny thing, is the only "bruising" was embarrassment. Haven't had to "bust butt" for a decade now, and am glad; he's now bigger than me. He also says thanks without actually saying it...
