I understand that it is possible to create account partitions, assigning different positions to each partition. In theory, this was done to allow each partition to be managed by a different trader (for professional wealth managers), but I would like to know if it is also possible for a single trader to keep different portfolios (stocks, bonds, options, etc.) or strategies separated and track them individually. The original account acts as the 'parent' partition to the 'child' partitions. Does anybody know if this can be done with an individual account where the manager is myself and not third party advisors? Using subaccounts seems to me an unnecessary step, especially considering that margins will not be shared across different subaccounts.
I would be interested in this as well. I am currently using sub-accounts, for lack of a better solution.
is the partition really in the same account? or does it create a new (sub)account? Seems like it would require a lot of work behind the scenes if it is one account. ie. Partition A is long 1000 ibm and partition B short 1000 ibm.
