One of the major problems with forums over the years is that you can't easily quote a portion of a person's post unless you quote the entire post first and then manually edit that quoted post down in the post editor to reflect only the sentence or two that you really wanted to respond to. Well now we have a cool new feature to that enables you to quickly and accurately select only the portion of a person's post that you want to respond to, and it's super easy. Whenever you encounter a post that you'd like to quote a portion of and respond to, simply select the text that you want to quote... just like you would if you were going to copy and paste it. As soon as you select the text you want to respond to, you'll see a little black box at the end of the selection called "Reply", which will look something like this: After selecting the text, just click that black Reply box and your selected text will automatically appear in the post editor like this: The cool thing is that you aren't limited to doing this just once on a page. Once the post editor is populated with the first quote, you can easily scroll back up and select other quotes from any post on the page. That way, you populate the post editor will all the quotes you want to respond to and then just knock out all the replies at once.
Great innovation, thank you! ...and it works very well for multiples as well, which involved a lot of manual work to get right before.
Thank you, Baron. Your new tip really helps! I am new, could you tell me how to bookmark certain post which I would like to revisit?
This is good stuff. You can also do it multiple times and it will append the quote to the cursor position in the reply box.
