I've seen it. When an employer must pay every employee a minimum of $15 per hour regardless of duties a funny thing happens. Something we haven't seen in a long time. Suddenly that employer has a word on his mind. That word is "merit". When he or she must pay employees $15 per hour they start looking for actual competency. They start to look for reliability. They start to look for people who show up on time. And they start firing people who do not meet those standards. The whole thing is a hat tip to meritocracy. Many will be shut out of the work force but seeing leftists promote employment based upon merit is wonderful. Of course they don't know they are promoting the meritocracy but I think it will become apparent to them a few years down the line. When the leftists perceive the unintended results of their work I think the next push will be something like "you must hire everyone who applies in the order of application" or some other drastic measure to ensure that you cannot hire based upon competency. Tonight though the issue appears to be mute because the Senate Parliamentarian has declared that Uncle Joe cannot raise the minimum wage as part of the Covid Relief Bill. So far Joe Biden has done nothing but issue Executive Orders and has not passed a single law through Congress. Yeah, that first 100 days LOL.
And most with the sole purpose of undoing anything/everything Trump has done. That's great politics, ain't it?
So everything this guy (above) said is bullshit. Now that the parliamentarian rightly ruled the minimum wage is not a budgetary issue Democrats are moving to making employee wages a condition of business tax credits and deductions. This would satisfy senate rules.
It hasn't been successfully implemented anywhere, and I am happy if someone wants to show me I am wrong. And by successfully, I mean without negative economic impact. Still, if done right it will result in higher wages - you just have to accept that less people will be employed at the end.
It's such a stupid idea. Small business owners have limited budgets for payroll. If I can afford 20 employees at 7.5 that's 10 at 15/hr so I have to let half my employees go. Someone teach Democrats basic math
Senate rules are there to be broken as Mitch has shown. Dems. should've overruled the Parlamentarian.
Don't have time to teach anything useful like that. Too busy teaching, "Hate Trump". That the Left has made such an effort in brainwashing the sheeple into hating Trump is very disturbing. TDS is real! Recall... Hitler's first efforts to get rid of the Jews in Germany was met with non-acceptance by the German people. So Hitler shut up about that for 4 years... never mentioned it... all the while having Goebbels and his Ministry of Truth propagandizing the airwaves to convince the German people that the "Jews were responsible for every ill in the country and were to be HATED." (Sound familiar in America now... "Hate Trump"?) Once the German people got on-board with "Jew hatred", Hitler was then able to continue on with his "disposing" of the Jews. Sick. Very sick. In spite of America's Leftists' best efforts, they yet hadn't taught enough of the sheeple to Hate Trump by 2020... had to cheat the election, too.
It’s a stupid idea for whom? I truly doubt that we will see a $15 an hour wage from the federal government, but $11 or $12 phased in over 3 years I’m optimistic.
Imagine passing corporate tax cuts in 2017 decimating the treasury, printing trillions last year due to COVID, destroying the buying power of the dollar in the process, and redistributing taxes to the top earners for at least a generation, and still opposing increasing the minimum wage? Imagine being that cucked?
