3hours-Scanning

  1. Does anyone know a software which is capable to scan the entire market on a 3hours basis? TOS scans 1,2,4 hours time frames but not 3hours. TC 2000 scans 1,2,4 and 195minute but not exactly 180minutes.

Seems like a weird request. 4 hour that much different than 3? If looking at equities I’d say 195 is a better measurement than 3. The end up with two candles from the day vs 2 candles that are 3 hours long and a candle that only reflects 30 minutes.

I’ve always preferred 72 minutes vs hourly because of that division remainder.

  3. It's possible you can get what you want in TOS. It's tricky but if I remember correctly, I built the scan in 1hr increments. You can scan the current 1hr bar and look back 1 bar and then 2 bars with the "offset" for the full data. Within "x" bars will apply certain look back criteria "x" numbers before the current bar ( this is what they use to comb thru 52 weeks of data for 52 week highs/lows). Combine all this and you should create be able to replicate the 3hr bar data. Then you have to figure what you need to create bars 2 and 3 (30 min).

Are you looking for signals? There's going to be a 30 min candle left over at the end since the trading day is 6.5 hours.

  4. I thought I was the only playing with these hah. I went 130 min and 195 min. 3hrs pops up some interesting data from what i've seen. He's on a path i've been down and im really intrigued.

Here's a 3hr green candle, green candle, green candle scan for the full day. I remember, I did it in 30 min increments because of the final bar.

What do you mean by "the entire market?"

  7. I tried to set up a scan to get informed (for example) when the current price is crossing it`s 200 tma (triangular moving average) on a 3hours chart. TOS does not offer a 3hours scanning. I tried to implement this with a 1hour chart, but a 600tma on a 1hours chart is not identical to a 200tma on a 3hours chart.
