My name is Jorge, trying to journal my trading results, to improve my consistency. I approach trading prioritizing the risk management. I have been trading for 4 months. I have a degree on physics and develop software for 20 years, and fell in love with markets. I will be posting my results EOD and posting some of my trades. I will trade NQ and ES, focusing only on micros. Thx for reading... And let's see how this goes... Good luck to me
Good luck* but IMO if you are really prioritizing risk management you wouldn't be posting a public journal after only trading 4 months. * luck exist in fiction only.
If I were you, i would seriously consider re-evaluating your stop size, and thus your entire system. Your stops are too tight. 25 points in MNQ? You will get chopped to pieces. Did you see today's action?
thx for the advice, yes i see the action today, all depend on the time frame you trading, on HFT you can have stops of 2 ticks and even made money. This are initial risk rules based on my previous analysis, i made lot of back testing and optimizations and choose this numbers. Really appreciate the advice.
Today was a complex day for me at morning, waiting for the FOMC news at 2 PM was complex get a clear view from my perspective, the goal as always is to keep exposition low. Consistently follow my system. I made a mistake because Rithmic stop work in the afternoon and I reboot my Ninjatrader and my execution chart was on ES instead MNQ so I have a loose of 3 ticks on ES, take the loss immediately and continue moving forward without thinking so much on the problem. See my trading results in points instead money really help to maintain the focus. To avoid this mistake in the future I take these actions: Add an entry to my order execution checklist (“Check the Instrument”) Add a Watermark to the chart. Made a risk plan inside Ninjatrader that limit only trade MNQ on the combine account, and 1 contract at time. Do not lose in any moment an UOF (Unit of Risk) The day close with a net profit of + 81.14 (+ 1.6 UOR) after commissions. General I feel in control of my actions. Lessons From Today: Need to work more on the impulse to overtrading, today do not affect me so much but is a work in progress. Strict use of Checklist these 3 ticks on ES must not repeat, attention problems must be solve. That’s all for today … Examples of last 2 trades:
Today was a liquidation day on NQ, complex to trade with my actual skills, potential reversals from the primary trend put me aside almost all day from trading. With the improvement from yesterday on the execution plan, I did not have any problems today. Closed the day with an + 18 points ($31.40) after commissions. The big win today was practicing my patience, see the markets run for so many points and fight with the sentiment of losing an opportunity. In this type of days, you really do not make a lot money but learn how to control and avoid overtrading.
