Saw a post over the weekend... said "Pensions have $21 Billion to sell by Friday". Don't know if true or what impact it might have. FWIW..
The sp500 - risk free rate, 12months rolling return is interesting. 21B dollars, absolute, is 86th percentile but it doesn’t look like much. We’ve seen 2.5x this amount (23’ Q2) and it didn’t break the market. How much is 21 billion divided by 50 trillion ? 0.042% of the sp500 market capitalization. Might not explain much.
Numbers are posted about $$ amounts to buy/sell at/near the close. The presumption being that if there is a large $$ pending, the market will likely move in that direction as the pendings get filled. Seems most of the time the pendings get absorbed and the market doesn't move much, net.
