Robert Johnson proposes that $14T be paid out in slavery reparations.

I didn't own slaves. My family didn't own slaves. There is no circumstance where I would agree to pay into this.

I travel some. But I keep a home-base in the United States. I do that because you cannot escape IRS taxation by living overseas. Even if you renounce your citizenship you are still liable (at least as I understand) for US taxes for 10 years.

There doesn't seem to be a real escape path that is legitimate. If there was I would become an ex-pat before a reparation like this could be implemented. Yeah you can buy citizenship in a foreign country these days but it doesn't obviate that 10 year rule.

Have any of you ex-pats managed to escape the grip of the IRS?

It's a pipe dream. Not only does it not make any sense, millions of people from immigrant families from Europe would probably stop paying taxes. Millions of people fled Europe during WW1 and WW2 long after slavery was over with. They and their families would not take too kindly for paying for sins no one committed.

The highest probability of reparations is some form of discrimination that benefits black people in education and employment. Cash payments will never happen. We will simply see an end to the meritocracy and the return to strict affirmative action based on skin color.

  6. Just for shiites and giggles, it is worth remembering that some of the dem candidates- Bootyboy and the Castro Boy for example also committed to tracking down illegals who were denied entry at the border and bringing them to this country with accelerated citizenship and then pay reparations to them for being denied entry.

Quite a racket the dems have going to buy votes. We pay reparations for people who "we" allegedly brought here and also reparations for those that we did not bring here.

Sure, tack it on to the debt. Who cares? Not like we're going to repay it.

I think more in terms of who is going to stop it.

Democrat majority House with Democrat majority Senate and Joe Biden at the helm, what then is to stop a Reparations Bill? I think Congress would fall over itself trying to pass it.
