I am a bond trader who just started trading 1 lots. My question is what is a good profit (tick) goal in the bonds on a daily basis trading a 1 lot? I am a scalper and I know my size will increase as I become more consistent ( Im at a prop house), just wanted to know how many ticks is good on a daily basis. Thanks guys.

  2. What is the name of the prop shop?

I have seen the question earlier.
The answer was 10 ticks per day is good.

  4. If you make net 5 ticks a day, you are very good. Scalping is not the best way to trade T Bonds.

  5. I wouldn't try scalping either. 6-10 ticks is what I try for, but with one lot, I sometimes try for a 16 tick. I guess it all depends on what you are comfortable with.

  6. Look out for report times. 5 ticks or 10 ticks becomes rather meaningless then...

Thanks. Would you suggest something like a "longterm day trade" if you will, where I make a couple of swing trades and hold for a few hours to take more out of the trade, instead of the get in get out, in, out stuff?

10 ticks per day is extremely good for scalping bonds. You can make a lot of money making 2 ticks or even 1 tick per day, if you can do it everyday. Consistency is more important with scalping.
