I just woke up 1/14/2016 15:00 et to see what is going on in Australia so I'm not thinking clearly (like I usually am late at night when I'm higher than a kite) so it looks like I will be awake for the debate tonight. Other than everything always being the same always, the one that cracks me up is how Trump has bypassed the media. Since everything we know we learn from the media, it is really quite comical how terrified they are of something they can't (or don't know how) to control. Not expecting much tonight from the moderators. I watch Cavuto religiously every afternoon at 16:00. He's a nice guy but couldn't think his way out of a biodegradable bag. In his mind all he knows is we, the United States of America are broke because we owe 19 trillion. otherwise, I think most of us who even care any more are looking for just more of the same, no new ideas, and Trump to say something which will bother the media to no end. I have a lot of imaginary enemies. Republicans, Democrats, Iranians, Russians, Muslims, Illegal Aliens, but the one I hate more than anything (other than the IRS) is the media. But the only way I can beat them is to just not watch them. Then what would I do? Who would I bitch about? I'm just a hungry bitcher looking for more new food tonight to bitch about.
I think the interesting dynamic tonight will be to see which candidates try to suck up to Trump and which attack him. Sucking up is a good idea if you have your eyes on the VP spot, or, if you think you might actually win and want Trump's endorsement. Trump is not a pol and the normal rules don't apply to him. For example, pols know it is all a game and will immediately forget all the personal attacks etc if it suits them. Trump, maybe not so much. Attack him and you can kiss your VP chances good by.
Trumps downfall will be if he tries to debate. Before the first debate he said, "I'm a doer not a talker. That's all these guys do is talk and debate, but they don't know how to do anything." And already he is starting to become one of them and rating himself on how he does in a debate. Anybody can attack a republican (or a democrat.) I want to see him attack the media.
I agree. He should stay off the personal attacks and stick with broad themes. All he has to do is say "we tried it their way and look at the results."
the establishment has become the party of "We can't." Trump says what we we all want to do, and all they say is, "We can't because it's just not that simple and the media would crucify you." If you read the 140 Obama promises it is not that different, other than the Trump promises we all understand, and the Obama promises require progression. And I hate a lot of things, but nothing more than change.
economy is too hard for FOX, they want to talk about citizenship and gun control. What's next? Abortion?
oh this is great, suddenly every republican thinks we should ban muslims until Donald Trump can figure out what is going on
Trump is like this giant sun that the other candidates orbit around. He sets the agenda, they quibble about it. Rubio and Bush get this and are trying to change it, but Trump's gravitational field is too strong and inevitably, they will be sucked into it, no matter how much money they raise.
