ummm are you sure? Did you ever study history? What is your definition of democracy? Is USA a democracy? You would be surprised what you can read in other countries' books about American, Roman or British history. It might even be shocking. The most successful governments in history have been republics(America, post revolutionary France, Rome), not democracies(Greece). Prior to that the most successful forms of government had been feudalistic, quasi corporatist ones, based on Germanic tribal society(Normans, Franks, Anglo-Saxons, Renaissance Europe ). One of the greatest threats facing the west today (mostly because it goes largely ignored) is our evaporating birth rate. As Spengler said in "The Decline of the West":When the ordinary thought of a highly cultivated people begins to regard "having children" as a question of pro's and con's, the great turning-point has come. Our society currently punishes people, particularly the most reproductively viable men, for having children. This is one of the MOST maladaptive features of our society, and perhaps the most overlooked.
