Who are "they"? I see posters referring to "they" all the time. "They" will rip the SP. "They" will get rid of the weak longs. Who are "they"

 

We are "they".

 

But if the institution are selling, we need to be short and vice versa.

 

And..., "they" are us


"They" are also the BSDs (one's with enough capital to affect / move price)

Let me elaborate on my answer Buy1Sell2. To RN's point, of course the institutions rule the roost. The problem I have with the concept of "they" is it gives a trader an excuse to be the victim.

 

I believe that it is ok to possess a healthy dose of skepticism when viewing all of the potential "influences" on these markets...but at the same time, it cannot be used as an excuse for poor decision making. There is no question that curious things occur in these markets at opportune times and I believe that a certain amount of "street smarts" is required to trade this stuff...

 

They is everybody else in the marketplace; collectively known as Mr Market. or Ms Market...whichever you choose to use.

It's you against this mysterious, monstrous, bitchy Beast.
