Life in Venezuela

  1. The best part of this story is the video at the end. The Venezuelan govt. will give needy people a bag of food that would cost $10 in the states and it is suppose to last a month. But they only give it to you after someone comes to your house and counts the number of people in the house, bathrooms, bedrooms and ensures that you are a registered member of the Socialist party. Non Party members are not eligible. It sounds like something that happened about 75 years ago.

'They only sell fish heads and give the rest of the fish to the Socialists.....No offense to dogs.....They have a CLAP program, but the only thing that goes clap, clap, clap is my stomach.....I used to be fat but I've had to reduce punch 10 holes in my belt'....funny stuff....

    Anyhow.......

    .........................
AT 9.30am on a Thursday six Venezuelans wait for a guided tour of the former military museum that is now the mausoleum of Hugo Chávez, the country’s populist president of 1999-2013. Across the road around 120 people are queuing for food at government-controlled prices from a state-run supermarket. The food queue starts at 3am. “Sometimes there’s food and sometimes there isn’t,” one would-be shopper says.

Venezuela: mass famine is imminent due to the Chávez-Maduro regime’s destruction of the productive economy.

A humanitarian crisis, the likes of which have never been seen in the Western Hemisphere, is brewing in Venezuela and it will be inevitable in a few weeks.

The fact is that Venezuela, while still pumping oil, no longer has a functioning economy. Seventeen years of nationalizations and confiscation of private industries, farms, cattle ranches, distribution companies, sugar mills, and even shopping malls have completely destroyed not only the local production, but the distribution networks necessary for the normal functioning of the economy.

Ninety percent of confiscated and nationalized companies and farms no longer produce anything.

( I knew the govt confiscated a lot of businesses but I did not know they were basically empty shells.)

  3. You have to remember that whenever it fails, its proponents will find any number of absurd excuses for why it has failed...

  9. Rat bastard government only selling food to it's supporters! When the US melts down we can expect exactly the same kind of treatment I'd think... Cuba couldn't feed it's population in the 1980's, think the MSM covered that story in the US? Hell no! How can Sanders say the things he does? He's a professor no? That tells me the state of the intellectual community in the US and the world in general...

  10. Lighten up guy, it was a joke.
    I like Canadians.
