How Sweden fights inequality — without soaking the rich

Discussion in 'Economics' started by dbphoenix, Oct 16, 2014.

  1. Some people are so criminally minded that they were/are ready to commit any abominable crime.

I think nowdays, the issue is how taxpayer's money is used.
The US spend a huge shunk into "defence" and specific "overseas aid".
Some countries make the choice of spending into prison programs that work
( you can not imagine how much some people like me love crime-free ( including "hidden" non charged crimes) environment).

Some countries chose to spend on unemployed welfare,
others prefer to invest massively on education. ( Japan,...).

This is exactly the point I've made repeatedly in these forums. There is plenty of money, it is a matter of how you spend it, i.e., priorities matter! I would point out however that "overseas aid", as you put it, is not quite what it may seem. 'Foreign Aid' is another form of a government subsidy of the U.S. 'defense' industry, since much if not the majority of the money spent for "foreign aid" comes back to the U.S. defense industry in the form of orders for new military equipment.

  3. Your message is starting to sink in :)
I did not know that 'Foreign Aid' actually was another way to increase the 'defense' budget.
    Thanks for the info.

not to mention, a small bribe, or as you call it "foreign aid" can be a lot cheaper than fighting a war.

  7. Ideally, EVERYBODY SHOULD PAY THE SAME RATE... the most broadly based, lowest rate of FLAT tax.

Progressive tax rates are not only unconstitutional, they are immoral.
