I think my reply came off more arrogant than I meant it. Ultimately, what I mean is that I don't perceive CL to be easier to trade than ES. I thought you were doing really well trading ES, no?
As you can see, there is no direct correlation between oil and especially on an intraday basis. Each market needs to be traded independently.

These correlations come and go. The one correlation I've felt comfortable with involves USDJPY. Its causes are well known and it's driven by an entity, BoJ, that is quite upfront about its intentions.
