Tesla has a reputation as the most innovative carmaker. But will the stock double this year or tend to be only green? What to expect in the next couple of years: a huge demand or a complete disappointment? I look forward to your opinions.

Of course will it be a success story, it already is.
The man behind TSLA, Elon Musk (age 44 only!), is a visionary man with many good ideas.
He's not only doing that project, but also many other, incl. space projects with his many companies.
So, EVs are already here, and even more in 5 years.
    Here's the stock chart:

Please stop sucking on Elon's dick, it is already sore from the geeks who don't understand business and general accounting. Elon "we will have no other capital raises" Musk 6 stock issues later still sucking on government welfare while building cars for the rich, unprofitable. This is your hero.

By the way EVs are 100+ years old and were around way before Elon got the idea. I bet even you could make an excellent car if someone throws 5 billions at you....

Pekelo, your logic is flawed, because for example Porsche and Ferrari are for the riches as well, and they are profitable...
Tesla goes some significant more steps further than these...
The guy realizes things which others have failed to deliver for 100+ years...
He's not only building the cars, but also the whole infrastructure for quick-loading the batteries.
These are respectable innovations worthy for a true visionary man, and which deserve credit...

What Musk is doing will certainly have a major role to play in the future. But 4 ominous points relate to him -

    1) He's been on 101 magazine covers, most of them praising his genius etc. When that happens a fall from grace is normally odds on

    2) Pioneers often end up with arrows in their backs so it's often the case that the first people in go broke and the next set make the money (or the ones after that).

    3) Is he really a proper businessman? No, so he's setup a few successful companies but setting up and then running them for the long haul is very different. Everyone complains about the 'accountants' taking over but more often than not, an accountant type is who you want running the business and that's not Musk.

    4) For 50 years we've always been about 10 years away from cracking nuclear fusion. Same with battery power, we're always nearly there but never get there. Billions have been invested in batteries over the decades but not much seems to have been achieved. If they had don't you think we could have a smart phone that lasts at least 24 hours? I was looking to buy a PHEV car recently and talk about the '3rd rail' when I started to quiz the salesmen about the batteries and when they needed to be replaced and more importantly how much. Can Musk really solve the battery problem?

Good luck to the guy but it's not going to be easy.

Tesla cars have received some bad press. They will fail in less than a decade. Time to short Tesla.

OK, so one more argument against Elon, if Porsche can be profitable making cars for the riches, how come Elon can't do the same even with government benefits? Last time I checked Porsche buyers didn't get tax credits.

The reason could be this: Tesla is a silent and clean car designed for a clean environment...
And at some times in the past mosts car-builders have got some form of benefits...

  9. Definitely good prospects, but the stock is so overbought, that it does not matter.

I agree with those who believe that the company has good prerequisites for long-term development. This includes a growing trend, a strong reputation, revolutionary technologies, a gradual entry into the world market. This is enough to speak of a stable development in the coming five years.
