Scroll Chart Bar-By-Bar

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by Alpha Trader, Feb 12, 2016.

  1. Does anyone know if there are any free online stock/futures charts that allow the scrolling of candles bar-by-bar (similar to this)?.

Wouldn't it be better to just use a charting platform that has replay data...allowing you to realistically reply the actual price action data instead of the unrealistic bar by bar that does not actually show how each interval changed with each tick.

Several data providers allows replay data...just Google it.

  4. Not automatic, but in Ninja you can scroll very easily using the roller button on your mouse.

You also have the possibillity for market replay like WRB is talking about. And yes, at different speeds as well, both faster and slower.

  5. From memory - tradingview.com was going to implement this feature a while back. I was in touch with the support guys over it. Haven't checked to see if they have done it or not. But it was in the dev pipeline for them....

I'd think Ninja Trader would be a good bet. Never used it myself and not sure what exactly is free with it. The adds show kinetic EOD data for free, think theirs other sources you can put into it to for data.

Just be weary of something that was pointed to me in Adam Grimes free course in the section about manual backtesting if this is for some sort of manual backtesting.

Just make sure that the software doesn't allow leakage. Ideally it calculates indicators based off your current last visible bar. It is possible if its just panning a chart that you will see moves beginning in an indicator that you would not catch. Just picture some indicator like an RSI and price moves up 25% the next bar that you can't currently see. Some programs will allow leakage as you'll be able to see the upward slope on the indicator since its joining the last two points of data it calculated.

I use Amibroker and when I have done some manual back testing, it doesn't allow this. It calculates indicators based off my last visible bar currently on the chart.

This is something you'd be able to easily see if the program does or not. I'm assuming most any software with a bar replay feature would work this way.

Metamega... I don't want to get off-topic, but can you suggest any material to help learn Amibroker? I'm aware of a few sources on this topic, but is there anything that you found especially helpful when you were learning Amibroker?
