Dual-Listing of Journal Threads

Discussion in 'Feedback' started by OddTrader, Jan 6, 2015.

  1. Do you think when starting a journal thread its OP can be allowed to list the thread on two forum boards?

Therefore a journal about trading of options can be listed on both the Journals board and the Options board in order to attract more readers for discussion and comments.

A journal with multiple markets could be also co-listed on the Trading board or any board related to its main market of interest.

I'd prefer if Journals of any nature stay in the Journals forum. Although technically a journal may be suitable for other forums because of the specific instrument being traded or whatever, I think the thread still belongs in the Journals forum because it's a journal first and foremost.

  3. Baron, just some food for thought, how about a sticky in the appropriate forum listing/linking to journals trading specifically that item. So a CL journal would be in the Energy forum sticky, but someone else trading multiple products including CL does not get the listing.

Benefit for members and visitors would be if someone is interested in say ES, apart from looking at the Index forum, there would be a ready list of links to ES journals. Should be good for page views. :)

Maybe we should implement tags so threads can be categorized in that way.

How long before there would be just too many stickies?

  6. One sticky thread per forum, listing all the relevant journals, eg 1 for Index containing listings for ES, NQ etc.

The list would get long, but there are discontinued journals here that are still of great value. Some periodic editing might be needed to weed out those discontinued after a brief run.

  7. An alternative :

Instead of a sticky thread per forum, perhaps only a small icon "Journals" next to each forum's name would be good enough.

The whole process could be fully automated, when covering only the (say) 10 (or selectable) latest journal threads.

  8. The icon idea sounds good and will certainly look better!

What I visualise is something like the list of best ET threads we used to have on the home page, which made it convenient to browse, except here it would be journals relevant to that particular forum. With the deluge of information we have nowadays, only the most determined will look through all journals to find what they want. Presenting information in an easily accessible format will increase the number looking at journals. Credit to the OP (you) for thinking of this.

  9. Similarly, perhaps another icon (possibly be placed before Journals icon) would be "Newbies FAQ" in order to provide a list of informative topics/threads to new members. Otherwise, old members would not be interested in responding repeatedly to newbie questions of same nature, and new members would find no helps to their keen questions.
