    Hi Everyone,

Unfortunately, I'm completely new to this. I'm opening this journal to learn about myself and from other willing members. I am currently identifying and implementing specific patterns in a SIM account, and hope to learn those in an effort to go LIVE.

Many have encouraged SIM trading for a while. I can learn the setups fast I believe. My largest road block is going to be psychological. Therefore, the sooner I go live--having learned and verified my setups--the better for the psyche. Right?

I'm mainly going to focus on the NQ for now, because of the smaller tick size and it's also pretty liquid compared to the YM. Considering ES for the future.

Anyways, today August 4, 2014, I unfortunately had a first "bad" trade, and chased. That chase led me into chop zone. My system doesn't even play CHOP. Why did I stay there? Because I wanted to make up for my loss. I deserved it. All in all I ended the day green, say $40? After being down 400$.

I also took way too many trades. I believe I took 21. I'm not doing that either. 3 to 10 at most I believe. I'm going to trade intraday until my account size can handle swing plays. I'm passionate about swinging. huh?

I'm also starting this journal so that I can reference some of the things I learn. In the future I can come here.

Looking forward to talking with you all,

    Smacksem

Today I wasn't able to trade in AM. I missed a very nice uptrend in NQ. Wish I could have been there. Were any of you?

I'm not a great scalper, mainly playing trend lines and certain patterns, so I stayed away from the chop in NQ this after noon.

ES had a couple nice afternoon moves. I'm still learning so many of my trades are small losses or B/E. I'm hoping I can keep them that way, and learn to make the big wins too.

  3. As you are someone really keen on feedback :D

It looks like just now you have some material to do some psychology/spirituality "improvements".

Attached is the chart of my trades friday. I finally found a lot of value in anchor charts. I realized during a time of consolidation or "chop" that price was definitely falling slower than it was rising. Does that indicate strength to one side?

If price takes 10 minutes to fall a point, and then climbs that point in 5 seconds over and over again, does that mean there is strength on the bullish side of things?

I noticed this during chop and sure enough price broke the range out top.

Treat sim like cash or the experiment will be worthless, good job on closing the 3-car mistake.

  7. was the 3-car really a mistake?
or did you fell so sure of a win, that you bet bigger? :p

hey thanks guys. 3 car was totally a mistake. I'm trying to keep SIM to as real as cash. My goals it to be consistent with 1 car, following my rules and set-ups.

For now I need to identify CHOP and stay out. I wish 3 car was really my confidence, but I'm very new to this.

    Thanks for the input...

  9. OK, we'll see how many times you make the "mistake" of taking a bigger car.
If not confidence, any desire to make quick profits may be? to cover losses?
I have come to believe that nothing is a mistake when it comes to "just a mistake" in trading.
