To successful traders, why haven't you quit yet?

    US markets open from 2:30pm to 4:30pm in Europe, depending where you're located. 3:30am would mean it's the closing of the aftermarket, not much going on then.

    Good points CoDOit
    I agree with much of that.
    In 14 years of trading, [actually more than that counting trades off wall street/chicago, NYSE] i seldom check my watch. Actually most all my charts are somewhat time stamped; but as you say i seldom look @ a watch.

    In 14 years of mostly Citigroup chart..... downtrends, i seldom watch any watch;
    120 minute charts are helpful ,to watch; watch a parabolic time price more than any watch. With no automobile bank payment, no mortgage bank payment- but a bank debit card.... makes LIFE better

    Apologies... true, messed that one up. While his posts suggest he lives in Europe trading US markets would occur starting from around 230pm to 430pm, and depending on specific location.

    At least I can face up to errors or mistakes. Hope your day today goes better than your last few days. And if you suddenly freak over sudden moves in markets: Its UK referendum time :D:D:D

    Why would anyone quit when they are successful? Once wants and needs are met and a reasonable degree of comfort provided, there is no need to do more. But doesn't everyone have a fantasy expenditure? Mine is the locked cabinet at Total Wine. How fun it would be to choose anything, without even looking at the price. I'll bet I could fit half a million worth of wine in one of their large shopping carts. If I had enough parties, I could blow through that in about a month, then go back for another half-mil load. That's my little fantasy. I suppose for some people it's cars, cigars, or other forms of entertainment. Or it could be something more altruistic, such as sending your kids to the best schools. Everyone has some wish upon a star. What's yours?

    Yes, a lot of people enjoy their work so much that it's not actually a work, talking in general here, not only about successful traders in particularly.

    But have you ever considered that most people don't learn how to do anything else except work in their lives? They simply don't know how to relax or "live" outside the work life?! It's kind a sad, but very real.

    Here is a great story for you from book Bumfuzzle by Patrick Schulte (commodities pit trader that retired at 29 to sail around the world with 0 experience), and this about his last day at the work. (see the attached picture) Think about it.

    Altruistic? For me it's sending other kids to school who would not have been able to go otherwise.
