I was a bit nervous today (when my funnymentals-based EOD positions give me big losses, which is most of the time, even had several "perfect storm" days this month ...). Anyway, YM trades were: Small size trades 1/ Long 10450, cover 10468 (+18ticks) 2/ Short 10473, cover 10480 (-7 ticks) here I tried to get smart a anticipate a retracement, to get long again @ 450, as I had just closed the previous long 3/ Long 10498, cover ~10552 (+54ticks) Scratch trades: 4/ Short 10558, cover 10563 (-5ticks) 5/ Short 10563, cover 10557 (+5ticks) plus some other small-size trades since I took the screenshot. PS: I often scale in/out of trades, so I just give avg price and ticks/contract here
Got account open, just need to get trading platform configured, I could actually start trading with the crappy platform, but not willing to risk it. So tomorrow, I could very well have some trades in. Plus we have some idiotic pep rally for a team that sucks anyways, so I'm probably just going to skip on that wonderous event and come home early, maybe jump on a few good trades then. Hope everyone had a great day today... I was dying in school when I saw that trade touch bottom, I knew I would have been long and rode it all the way up.
... Well, considering I was in school, and I could see my mentors screen.... yeah, I think it was insanely easy, that is why I was ticked off I was in school. And why I posted earlier the fact that I was missing all this great action. So.... yeah, today was extremely easy if you knew support and resistance from the previous 3 or 4 days. I don't see the problem.... EDIT: If you need visuals to see how easy this was... http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/5259/snapshot459by.png
I don't think it was an good opportunity because of S/R alone. It might as well have broken through the 450, as we had several days with a close below SMA200 + EMA200 and a high oil price. But right now the market has the usual bullish tendency towards the end of a quarter. This might go on for a few days and then we will probably see another drop during earnings season. So, only the combination of the two factors was actually a good indicator for a possible breakout. BTW, here in germany the market went to new highs after the squeeze in the US. Apparently people here think this movement might go on for a little bit...
How much did you pay to your mentor? How much did he make today? Does he need your petty cash? So why is he selling it? I already feel your pain.
.... okay? I suppose you haven't read this thread. Pay you no mind. Volente, DJ, how did you guys do today? I still thought today was one of the best days I have seen. Probably won't see another huge moving day like this for a few weeks, maybe a few months... looking at the daily chart anyways.
I've noticed that the other major markets all move off the US markets. eg if US stocks close higher, the Hang Seng and Singapore will most likely close higher, then the FTSE and DAX will close higher. Likewise if the FTSE closes strong, US stocks tend to open higher. Has this also been your observation? And does anyone here trade off this synchronous activity?
