World leaders appear to mock Trump during tense NATO summit

As the impeachment inquiry heats up in Washington, with the House Judiciary Committee set to hold its first public hearing Wednesday, President Trump has found himself in tense moments with fellow world leaders at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit in London.

The leaders, who are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the transatlantic alliance, are meeting Wednesday at a golf resort outside of London to discuss threats including terrorism, arms control and China.

But tension among the leaders of NATO member countries over the alliance's role also appears to pose a threat to the partnership.

While the leaders of the 29-member NATO alliance were all smiles as they posed for the ceremonial family photo Wednesday, Mr. Trump and the United States' closest allies had some awkward moments Tuesday, reports CBS News' Paula Reid.

While meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Mr. Trump said Canada is "slightly delinquent" in its contribution to NATO.

Hours after the bilateral meeting between Mr. Trump and Trudeau, the Canadian prime minister, alongside British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Macron, appeared to mock the U.S. president during a reception at Buckingham Palace.

"He was late because he takes a 40-minute press conference off the top," Trudeau can be heard saying, adding that "you just watched his team's jaws drop to the floor."

French President Emanuel Macron and Mr. Trump engaged in a tense exchange over Syria, with Macron telling the president, "The first burden we share, the first cost we pay, is our soldiers' lives."

"Would you like some nice ISIS fighters?" Mr. Trump replied. "I could give them to you."

Macron told the president his "number one problem are not the foreign fighters. It's the ISIS fighters in the region."

The response from the French president led Mr. Trump to declare that his response was "one of the greatest non-answers I've ever heard."

Mr. Trump canceled his scheduled news conference via Twitter, "because we did so many over the past two days."

Mr. Trump has in the past criticized NATO, calling it "obsolete" and demanding the other members of the alliance pay more. But in London, the president has embraced the partnership, even as he cast doubt on whether the U.S. would defend a nation that does not spend the agreed-upon 2% of GDP on defense.

Mr. Trump answered questions from reporters for a combined two hours Tuesday during meetings with Macron, Trudeau and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

On Wednesday, Mr. Trump met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and hosted a lunch with NATO members who have met their financial commitments.

Listening to the audio I think it is a stretch to consider what was heard to be shade to any degree, they were late and it was explained why. Maybe I missed a bit. It does seem calling Bone Spurs "he" and not his full title of President god emperor is enough to trigger him.

  6. you are as always so observant and correct again, as it was cited in numerous articles from Infowars and even, in the letter from Clint Eastwood which you posted recently. damn those tyrannical western countries like Canada, UK, Holland, and France. we should model ourselves as our real allies such as Turkey and Saudia Arabia.

It must be hard to remain diplomatic dealing with Trump and his irrational ideas and behavior. I do wonder why some Americans don't realize yet how badly Trump reflects on them as a nation of people is they continually support the man on any level.

For the same reason that "some" Americans still love Charles Manson's ideals and methods. It does not matter who is in any position of power...That person will have detractors and supporters. We are too diverse of a country in thinking for it to be any other way.

Polish politician makes what appears to be ‘gun’ gesture at Trump’s back

Polish politician Donald Tusk on Thursday tweeted a photo of him pointing a pair of fingers toward President Trump’s back, a gesture some alarmed Twitter users likened to a gun.

“Despite seasonal turbulences our transatlantic friendship must last #Trump #NATO,” wrote Tusk, whose term as president of the European Council ended at the start of this month.

The friendly caption was offset by a photo of Tusk pointing his right index and middle fingers toward Trump, who had his back to the camera.

The move by Tusk — the former prime minister of Poland and a frequent critic of Trump — concerned some on social media, who felt that it had a menacing undertone.

“[Outgoing] European Union Council Leader Donald Tusk tweets himself holding 2 fingers against Trump’s back like a GUN,” tweeted user @justathoughtUSA. “Is that a THREAT?”

“We all know that the Globalist EU opposes Trump, but this goes too far,” continued the tweet, which tagged Trump and the FBI.

“what a disgusting gesture of @donaldtusk,” wrote user @Makaisia. “this moron has no manners!!!”

“Is this some sort of veiled EU threat aimed at the US?” asked a third user, @Dispropoganda.

Based on Tusk’s second hashtag, the photo apparently was taken at this week’s NATO summit, which took place in London.

Last month, Tusk was elected president of the European People’s Party — a conservative political party committed to strengthening the EU.

Tusk could not be immediately reached for comment.

The two Dons have had a fraught relationship.

In his final speech to the UN General Assembly in New York this September, Tusk took a sharp dig at Trump, calling his views on patriotism “false and dangerous.”

“To protect the truth, it is not enough to accuse others of promoting fake news,” he said, as reported by Politico. “Frankly speaking, it would be enough to stop lying.”

But many Poles were mortified by Tusk’s tweet, apologizing to Trump on Twitter on his behalf.

“As a Polish citizen I am embarrassed for this person,” wrote user @RZbijowski.

“Dear @realDonaldTrump, Poland apologizes for Donald Tusk,” added @MikiPoznan.

Actually, what you should be wondering is why some Americans don't actually care at all about how badly you, and folks of your ilk, think of Trump or our country. In fact, it is when you agree with us that we should question the path we are on and whether it is correct.
