What are UK tax liabilities for day traders?

Would like to get some info before seeing an accountant on Inland Revenue taxation of income derived from day trading US futures for UK residents.

Short term trading of futures or stocks is income. If you want to avoid tax then use spread betting.

 

SB's spread is too wide on ES for my type of trading
