The United Nations is calling on the Obama administration to wrap up its investigation into an incident that happened in Florida.

The UN wants the administration to decide if George Zimmerman will face federal civil rights charges for the 2012 shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin.

“We call upon the U.S. government to examine its laws that could have discriminatory impact on African Americans, and to ensure that such laws are in full compliance with the country’s international legal obligations and relevant standards,” said Verene Shepherd, a human rights expert. Shepherd is the head of the UN Working Group of Experts of People of African Descent.

The U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are currently trying to determine if there is enough evidence to file civil rights charges again Zimmerman, Breitbart reported.

“The Trayvon Martin case has highlighted the importance of the need to review those existing laws and policies that can have a discriminatory effect on the basis of race, as African Americans become more vulnerable to such discrimination,” Shepherd said.

“States are required to take effective measures to review governmental, national and local policies, and to amend, rescind or nullify any laws and regulations which have the effect of creating or perpetuating racial discrimination wherever it exists,” said the UN special reporter on racism, Mutuma Ruteere.

A Florida jury found Zimmerman not guilty in the shooting death of 17-year-old Martin earlier this year.

What? What business is it of the UN? Do we investigate murders in Belgium or France now?

  3. fuck the UN! sell the HQ building and kick them the fuck out.. and don't forget to keep their stuff if they don't pay the millions they owe to NYC and local companies.

  4. I have a better idea. We should wait for them to show up, weld the doors shut and set the building on fire. Pay per view should cover the expense.

The reality is that the U.N. is a toothless entity that is approaching the point of being meaningless.

This being said... it is better to keep them in NYC so we can keep an eye on this collection of generally leftist nuts. If we locate the U.N. outside the U.S. then the organization may re-entrench itself and become a real problem to solving foreign policy issues.

I'm with the Captain on this one.

This is yet another example why we should not be in or support the UN in any way.

I would agree at this point in the game. Keep your Friends close, and your enemies closer. And if I were running this mess, I'd get ALL of our guys out of the middle east, but at the same time, deploy many more REAL intelligence Officers. I'd also pay quite well the Operatives who gather, and deliver REAL information. Can you imagine what we'd save by doing this vs what we do now? This being the World's cop isn't working anymore. We can't afford it, and it's not what we were meant to be...
