Today, 12/12, is contract rollover date... in case you weren't paying attention like me

  1. Used to be I had to roll each chart individually. It's nice that Sierra does them all for me automatically.

    These used to be every quarter or so -- now they're every 3 months, which seems like no time at all, as time goes on. :confused:

    It depends on which futures.

    some rolled in early Dec.
    Some next week.

    and some every single end of month.

    and some rolled around mid of every month.

    Rollover is today officially. I personally dont change to March until tomorrow/Monday when the volume on March is higher than December. Right now the Dec. volume still higher.
     
  6. Unless you're trading big size, doesn't really matter whether you trade the expiring or the new for a few days as players make the transition.

    My ES contract says 20 Dec 19 expiry

    I thought this was a great change. Makes much more sense doing it every 3 months rather than quarterly.

  10. Rollover date is when the new contract becomes the "front month" for trading. The old contract to expire later.
