Hello all, Any one here trade or trade in the past only the opening, first half hour..? any good advice ? So much volatility there..
I used to for lack of trading experience, then stopped trading the first 45 mn unless specifically choosing to trade only that time period. GME for example is highly volatile at open AND has some activity in early trading to help with expected action. I've usually done well buying within 5 mn of open then watch the stock shoot up (or down) and sell soon after.
Harold (Divergence) trades the opening hour Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri. Trades for a living. https://www.forexfactory.com/divergence
I presume you are talking about trading Emini during the US opening. volatility is good provided the market moves decisively, smoothly, not choppily/erratically. lately, the opening session could be rather choppy. advise: don't trade the choppy market. The end ....
There is the actual Open, with orders stacked up. Then there is the Open first 3 minutes, with a lot of volume and noise. Then there is the actual opening move, usually with a preamble. Also there is often reports 30 minutes after the open. Lastly a fair number of bots go off during this time because there is still volume and that often a key requirement. I.e. a lot goes on but if you look carefully and study there are patterns, counter-patterns and reasons. Hope that helps.
I did the same when I started. But the volatility is so high in the opening hours that my analysis speed couldn’t match that. So, nothing seemed to be a better option than waiting for some time until the market gets a bit stable.
