IEX Group, the upstart trading venue that is trying to challenge the world's largest stock exchanges, said its critics were stuck in the past. http://www.businessinsider.com/iex-group-responds-to-critics-in-sec-letter-2015-11
It's true, they just have better fills whether you like them or not. If you disagree do equal orders on IEX and compare to other venues, the evidence speaks for itself. Of course NYSE and BATS would object, they're in the fleecing business. And if Citadel hates IEX, well, that's just confirmation that IEX is awesome.
For a company that wants everyone to be transparent. There are some very opaque aspects of their order types. They seem to be falling down the same rabbit hole as the other exchanges.
If they implemented anti-spoofing measures, I would be very impressed. The CME Group couldn't or wouldn't do it....not sure why.
