    quote:

Why is this happening? The entire media and marketing industry is losing its grip on the upcoming generations of Internet-minded consumers. Statistics show that traditional media is losing popularity as the Internet continues to grow drastically every year. And the Internet is a completely different place: consumers aren't passive any more and advertisements don't have the same psychological effect they normally have on television. Internet users are very active and focused: they only go to the sites and services they want, and with an infinite amount of alternatives, users simply switch to something else if one service becomes too commercialized with annoying advertisements. With this in mind, it's no surprise that the past 6 years the industry has secretly been planning a 'take-over' to secure the Internet as a purely commercial playground.

  2. And to think that I was worried a few years ago about ISPs considering charging for bytes downloaded per month (a utility style billing). This is simply disgusting. Thanks for the heads-up chewbacca.

  3. Sounds ripe for antitrust litigation.

  4. There is no f-ing way this will happen... if I can't have access to my wikipedia I swear to god I will make it my mission in life to form the largest coalition in history against this.

  5. lotsa luck.. my cable provider is hinting at bandwidth caps for power users like traders etc that soak up line time...

    That f*cking sucks.

I am not one for conspiracies, but that makes perfect sense for these major corporations.

Fortunately, with the help of the internet, word will spread and hopefully stop it.

  7. I thought it was bull too until I did a search for it. Google is talking about it so it must have a basis in reality.

I despise these Corporate Sellout whores.

Throttling the internet to Disney and MSN so we can watch canned versions of sanitized reality 24/7.

Total bullshit. The Internet did more for the First Amendment since the Gutenberg Press and now these schumks want to turn it into a 60 site cable package!

Canadian ISP's already instituted bandwidth caps on highspeed. 60 GB Cap with 2$ per GB overage.

You know, I gotta give Alex Jones credit on this one. He was preaching thel end of net neutrality and a total corporate take-over of the Net, three years ago. I thought it was more hype. I was wrong and he was right again.

    This is an outrage.

  9. I never thought Big Brother would become a reality this fast.
SkyNet anyone? Rise of the machines?

  10. I guess during their off-time from playing world of warcraft, they are receiving nonpublic info from executives of major corporations.
